The road dust this past summer (2007) has been a tremendous
problem. The dust abatement that has been applied in
May for several years has been very expensive and effective for only 3
to 4 weeks, at most.
At the HOA summer meeting in July, a Road
Committee was selected to pursue an affordable, longer lasting solution
for the dust. Considerable research and discussion
has been conducted for solutions. The committee and
other concerned homeowners met on Sunday, September 30, to discuss the
to-date information on types of surfaces and the costs.
A double chip seal application is the recommendation of the
participants based on surface durability, ease of application and cost.
It should be understood that a
considerable amount of drainage work will have to be done before the
road surface can be applied.
For anyone wanting to see an example of a double
chip sealed road, Dealers Choice and Pinion roads north of Hwy 260 East
of Star Valley were treated just this past summer.
